While every unhappy musican may be unhappy in their own personal way as someone once said. Musicians commonly fail for one of three reasons. So what are these three reasons that spell doom and gloom for musicians? Here's The Business & Musicians Forum list:
1. Lack of focus.
As a musician you can often lose control easily. I've seen musicians lose their mind and quit very early in the game because they don't have a clear idea of what they are doing and where they want to go. Nothing is worse when you don't know where you want to take your music. Having a clear mind and a direction will be great in the long run.
2. Complacency.
This is one as musicoans that we usually come across a lot of times. When everything sounds great you get the feeling that everything is going well. The idea is to never coast as a musician. Be open to the notion of always improving your skills. Think of it this way, the great musicians like Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, George Duke neber coasted. They always wanted to improve their skills to become the best at what they do. You should follow the same way. Strive to become the best at what ever you do.
3. Don't follow the crowd
As a musician, you want to be your own person in your own music. It comes down to individuality and coming up.with your own pieces of inspiration. Music comes from what you hear, see and read. Let that be your inspiration. When you hear a piece of music from a famous musician don't try to be like them. You need to use your own techniques and develop your own style or flow.
I've seen this happen alot however if you can overcome these areas you are on your way to become a excellent musician and your musicianship.
