A Method to Powering Up Your Left Hand

Greetings Fellow Musicians and Aspiring Musicians

Just recently I got an email over the long weekend from a musician on how to improve their left hand. They wanted to maximize their hand so that the chords could sound fuller

This post won't be long. Here it is:

Take the C major scale for example:

C major
C D E F G A B C
1 2 3 4 5 6 7

So, to play a basic power chord, just play the 1 + 5.

For those who want to go a step further just add the "1"

1 + 5 + 1 (the octave)

The way that you would use them is to give your left hand more depth.

For example:

In the Key of C

C major chord : C + E + G

Your bass power chord would be: C + G + C

To be honest the C major chord is too basic to this is just for the advanced people

Jazzed Up C major chord: A + D + G

The left hand power chord would still be the same

Keep in mind that your left hand power chord doesn't always have to be the 1 + 5 +1

Try it and let us know what you think!

Stay tuned because we are currently working on our blogtalkradio podcast for all the musicians and business readers who want to have their questions answered live on air. Launching Soon!
