This Week's Music School: Major 7th Madness Part 2

Welcome Back,

Last time, we covered major 7ths in our previous post for guitar players.

DISCLAIMER: This post is for Piano Players

With the high volume of emails that I have been receiving from concerned musicians asking for more chords and more instructional based learning. This is a special weekend post.

Here is Major 7th Madness

We are going to be in the key of C for this one. These chords are going to be stacked.

Here is the chord on your LEFT HAND:

What we have going on in your left hand is a C Major 7 chord in its third inversion.

In order to give this some edge we are going to pair this with a major chord in the right hand.

You have two options with this chord:

Option #1- You can pair this with a G major chord which is G-B-D

For this option you would play this G major chord as a substitution for the 6th chord which is A in the key of C.

Option #2- You can replace the with a regular C major chord.

Major 7th chords are very interesting. I hope that this gives you some insight into Major 7th madness.

Happy Holidays
